“MY FAVORITE SONG”
The Georgian Bay Quilt Guild hosts a biennial quilt show to showcase the talents of our guild members.
For our 2027 Quilt Challenge, we invite all members, seasoned and new, to create a quilt inspired by “My Favorite Song”
Music moves us.
It brings back memories, marks milestones, comforts us and sometimes defines a moment in our lives.
Your quilt may interpret the lyrics, mood, rhythm, colours, story or even a personal memory connected to your chosen song. The interpretation is entirely your own – literal, abstract, traditional or modern, realistic or symbolic.
Challenge Guidelines
Category 1 – Original Design:
The layout, block arrangement, and overall composition of your quilted project must be uniquely yours.
The quilt should clearly reflect your personal interpretation of your chosen song.
Category 2 – Established Pattern / One Block Wonder:
This category is for quilts made using a published pattern designed by another quilter or a recognized format such as a One Block Wonder quilt.
Proper credit must be given to the pattern designer.
Fabric choices, colour palette and quilting style should reflect your favorite song.
Category 3 – Other Quilted Item:
This category includes quilted projects that are not flat quilted items.
Examples may include but not be limited to;
Bags, wearable items, stuffed items
General Rules:
- All submissions must be newly made according to this challenge
- All submissions should be quilted and fully complete at time of submission.
- Quilt Size is limited to not greater than 144 inches in perimeter. You are free to decide shape as long as the outer measurements do not exceed 144 inches.
- Entries may be submitted in all three categories
- Entries to be displayed at the 2027 Quilt Show therefore sleeves are to be attached to the backs of items requiring hanging according to specifications on the Registration Form under Display Requirements.
- Please include a label on the back with the following information:
- Your name
- Quilt Title
- Song Title and Original Artist
Copyright laws apply to most song lyrics. Members are responsible for ensuring their work does not infringe copyright restrictions.
